Veterinarians

Heather Kreager

Heather Kreager, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kreager earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. During those years of undergraduate study, she also spent time working at the Lake Superior Zoo and volunteering with the local humane society and animal shelter. Following graduation, Dr. Kreager continued to develop her skills while working as a technician and receptionist in a small animal clinic before attending veterinary school at the University of Minnesota. Following her graduation in 2007, Dr. Kreager worked for a progressive small animal clinic, where she developed her ability and skills while training under an ABVP board-certified practitioner. Chalco Hills Animal Hospital opened in February 2013. Away from the clinic, Dr. Kreager stays very busy with her two sons, Braden and Ronan, and, of course, the furry four-legged members of the family, four mischievous kitties Zuli, Nova, Kirby, and Maple.

Abigail Burroughs, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Abigail Burroughs earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University with a strong interest in preventative care and dermatology. She takes pride in developing excellent client relationships and tailoring plans based on the unique needs and concerns of pet owners. In her free time, Dr. Abigail enjoys reading, traveling, biking, crocheting, and playing board games. She also has three pet turtles at home.

Brittany

Brittany, LVT

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Brittany grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska. She graduated from the
University of Nebraska Omaha in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in
Psychology. After working a bank job for two years, she realized her
passion was working with animals. Brittany started working part time as
a veterinary assistant on the weekends and enrolled in an online
veterinary technician program.

Brittany graduated from Penn Foster Career College and is now a Licensed
Veterinary Technician. In her free time, she stays busy taking care of
her many plants and spending time with her Shiba Inu, Heidi, and her
cat, Grimm.

Emalie McElfresh

Veterinary Assistant

Emalie grew up in Omaha, NE. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science.

Emalie has been working towards getting into vet school for the past few years and was recently accepted in December 2022. She will be attending the 2+2 program with UNL and Iowa State in the fall of 2023, and Bruiser will be going to school with her!

In her free time, she loves spending time with friends, her two childhood dogs, Mazie and Dakota, and taking on DIY home projects!
